It is not every day that a leading farm equipment company slashes prices for Ugandan farmers.

At the forthcoming 2025 expo, Engineering Solutions (ENGSOL) has reduced prices by 15%!

During the launch of the expo on Tuesday (February 04), Medi Mwiri, the ENGSOL marketing manager, announced that several of their products will be displayed at the expo.

“As ENGSOL, we will be ready for our customers with a range of machinery, especially in smart agriculture with a 15% discount for the three days of the expo,” he said.

This is the largest price reduction ever made by the company during the expo.

The 2025 expo is sponsored by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Uganda, ENGSOL, K-Roma (Bella Wine), Tunga Nutrition, Uganda Development Co-operation, aBi Development and Pepsi Cola.

The annual agricultural expo will take place on February 14- 16 at its first home, Mandela National Stadium Namboole, Wakiso district.

Both local and international companies are set to exhibit, share technologies and knowledge as well as sell their products at a discounted price.

ENGSOL supports

Since the expo’s inception in 2017, ENGSOL has always been a part of the event and the case is not any different this year.

Lawrence Kayiwa, a sales executive at ENGSOL, has been working with Vision Group during the preparations and exhibition at the three-day expo.

“We are very happy and excited to inform the general public and the international community that we are coming with exciting and crazy offers during the three-day expo to make sure that whoever wants to mechanise and modernise agriculture has an opportunity through this expo,” the sales executive explained.

A tractor without implementsis useless, Kayiwa said.

The implements that can be attached to tractors include hoes to plough, a boom sprayer for spraying, a rotavator for breaking and digging soil and a cultivator for removing weeds.

Others are harrows to break up and smoothen the soil, trailers for carrying and planters that can be used for irrigation.

He called on all Ugandans not to miss out on the expo given the benefit from the training sessions and the mini-lectures at the ENGSOL stall.

Aside from offers on machinery, at the ENGSOL stall, farmers will also be empowered with the latest knowledge on enterprises such as dairy farming.

Kayiwa said they will showcase milking machinery that promotes quality milk production.

Regarding why they never miss out on participating in the Harvest Money expos, the ENGSOL official said the investment was bearing fruit as their sales and profitability keep growing by the year.

In addition, the expo provides the company with opportunities to showcase its affordable technologies and interact with its customers, explaining the importance of technology in agriculture advancement.

Low level of mechanisation

A recent study by the agriculture ministry revealed that Uganda’s level of agricultural mechanisation is lower than that of other sub-Saharan African countries, partly explaining the country’s low level of agricultural production.

The findings indicated that about 90% of agriculture in the country relies on hand tools with only 10% of farmers involved in mechanised agriculture.

This is despite government interventions like the distribution of 560 tractors and 933 ox ploughs to 115 district local governments through the agriculture ministry.

The ministry further piloted tractor hire services using 16 tractors, heavy earth-moving equipment and implements at subsidised rates.

According to official statistics, Uganda has about 4,000 tractors which is insufficient for the farming sector that employs 70% of Ugandans.
