Trainers at the 2025 Harvest Money Expo sessions have urged the public to keep time to get value for their money.

During the trainers’ meeting held at the Vision Group headquarters in Kampala on Thursday, trainers expressed concern over people who come late for the training, saying they miss out a lot.

“The first information is always how to start and the challenges encountered during the initial stages. This stage is very important,” Dr Emma Naluyima, one of the trainers, said.

She called on the public to save the dates of the training sessions they want to attend.

This year’s Harvest Money Expo will take place on February 14-16 at Mandela National Stadium Namboole in Wakiso district.

The expo is sponsored by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Uganda, Tunga Nutrition, Engineering Solutions, Uganda Development Corporation and dfcu Bank, among others.

Besides exhibitors’ stalls, there shall be training sessions organised during the three days of the expo. One has to pay an entry fee of sh10,000 and sh10,000 to attend a training session for a day.

Training will be on new technologies for production and value addition as well as marketing strategies suited to commercial agriculture.

Edward Lutakome, a senior coffee sector trainer, said there is much to learn during his session.

“Today, coffee prices are increasing because of issues in countries known for producing it. If we organise ourselves, we can still take our share because we have the best coffee in the world,” Lutakome said.

Harriet Nakabaale of Camp Green, an urban farm, said participants will learn alternative ways to plant gardens and grow food for home consumption and the market.

Dr William Kabanda, the country manager of URUS, said they will be training dairy and beef farmers on genetics and also how to make their farms profitable and generational. URUS uses technology to improve beef and dairy farming.

“We are to introduce farmers to embryological transfer, where they can get pure exotic breeds using local cows. In addition, we shall bring bloodlines of the best milk-producing bulls from which farmers can select,” Kabanda said.

Martha Matovu, the secretary for the Uganda Dairy Network, called upon the youth to come in droves and learn how to make money from growing pasture as a business.

Frank Buizer, the agriculture counsellor at the Netherlands embassy, encouraged all to visit the Dutch village, which will bring over 100 exhibitors and the best farmers.

Catherine Baine-Omugisha, an advocate at Baine-Omugisha Legal Consultants and Advocates, will handle the legal framework governing agriculture, the role of stakeholders across the supply chain and common conflict triggers.
