There was a lot for children to see, enjoy and learn at the Vision Group’s Harvest Money Expo 2025 which was held at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole recently.

Over 20,000 people and 220 exhibitors attended.

They showcased innovations in machinery, value addition and agricultural services.

Valeria Julian Kawuma, an eight-year-old pupil of Hillside Primary School attended with her mother and younger brother.

She shares her experience;

I love farming so much and whenever I hear of any agricultural exhibition, I make sure to attend it. That is why I am here at this expo. I want to learn more and become a successful farmer in future. There is too much money in farming. I get inspiration from my mother Nancy Mawanda and father, Victor Kawuma.

They own a big farm which has animals and interesting birds such as the quails. They also do poultry, rear dogs and grow fruits which I enjoy looking after.

I also have a personal garden and this time around, I want to grow strawberries because I have learnt from this expo that these plants are sweet, easy to grow, have a ready market and most importantly, they beautify the garden.

I have bought seedlings to start with when the rains come. I look up to my mother so much.

She is passionate about farming and I want to be like her. To children out there, always embrace new things. Try out farming, you will love it.
