- Land preparation must be in time for the first rains (February-April)
- Fertilise the soil using at least 45kg of NPK per acre
- Dress or coat the seed with a thiram, for controlling fungal and bacterial growth l Sow at 5cm to 6cm depth, using a spacing of 45cmx10cm-15cm for varieties that are semi-erect
- When weeding, farmers should carry out timely weeding, avoid earthing up plants when using a hoe.
- Look out for aphids or leaf miners and control them in time.
- Harvest when 70% or more pods are mature
- Use dark markings on the side of the shells. Seeds should be plump and reddish or depending on the variety.
- Clean excess soil from the pods, wilt or dry for three to five days. Drying should be carried out on a mat for a further two to five days
- Store pods in gunny bags in a cool dry and well-ventilated store.
- Do not store moist groundnuts, use plastic or polyweaver bags for storage
