There is excitement among practising farmers and those planning to join farming as a business because the mega Harvest Money Expo 2023 is on, bigger and better.

Organized by Vision Group, the biggest agriculture and agribusiness annual event is slated to run from February 10 – 12, 2023, at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds under the theme “Farming as a Business”.

The agriculture sector employs 80% of Uganda’s population, contributing 25% to the National GDP and is also responsible for 44% of Uganda’s total exports making this the largest sector in Uganda’s economy.

It is against this background that the Harvest Money Expo was started by Vision Group in 2017, to improve the interaction between existing and prospecting farmers.

“It is both an interactive and technology-sharing event,” Klaire Komakech, the Business Development Manager of Vision Group says.

Between 2017 and 2020, the expo was held at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole. It was moved to Kololo Airstrip in 2022, due to COVID-19 restrictions and renovations at Namboole.

This annual Expo sets a platform for displaying and identifying innovations made by both local and foreign companies through improved technologies for better production, marketing, poverty eradication and also conducts training sessions by successful practitioners in the respective enterprise value chains.

Previous Expos attracted exhibitors from the Netherlands, Kenya, Tanzania and Egypt etc.

On average, at least 250 exhibitors from all key agriculture sectors attend each year. Over 30,000 showgoers tour stalls each year.

According to the Embassy of the Netherlands, exhibitors are expected from the Netherlands.
