Apart from being used for cooking, tomatoes are also good for pregnant mothers, as well as skin care.

Ronald Ainebyona, a nutritionist at Lufuka Clinic in Namasuba, a Kampala neighbourhood, says it is very safe to eat tomatoes in moderate quantities for pregnant women.

“Research shows that it is completely safe to eat tomatoes every day. They have low calories and have a high water content. Tomatoes also contain vitamin c  to take care of 40% of your required daily intake,” he says.

Why take tomatoes every day?

Tomatoes are a good source of potassium and are linked with lowering elevated blood pressure in the body, hence preventing cardiovascular diseases, thus good for one’s health.

Do tomatoes increase immunity?

Tomatoes immune boosters, packed with a high dosage of  antioxidants. Antioxidants protect cells against damage, Ainebyona explains.

Consumption of tomatoes will provide anti-inflammatory properties and thus, can be really beneficial for overall brain and heart health.

Is taking tomatoes safe while pregnant?

Ainebyona says tomatoes contain vitamins A and C, thus improve immunity in pregnant women. The other health benefits of consuming tomatoes are;
