Mayuge Pay Tribute To Agriculturalist

Mayuge district council held a special sitting on Thursday to pay tribute to the fallen principal agricultural officer Peter Kasadha.
Kasadha died of Hemorrhage stroke at TAL medical and Rescue International hospital in Kampala where he was admitted under intensive care unit.

“We held a special sitting to pay tribute to the fallen principal agricultural officer,” Frank Tibagendeka, the Mayuge district
chairperson said.

Kasadha who joined Mayuge district local government as the National Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADS0 coordinator in 2007 will be remembered for his outstanding performance in improving the agricultural sector in the district.

“He had passion for agriculture and worked diligently in fulfillment of his duties,” Eria Magumba, the Mayuge chief administrative officermsaid.

Magumba said that because of his (Kasadha) commitment, Mayuge district was recognized as the best performing district in Busoga sub-region for the financial year of 2011/ 2012 in NAADS programme.

After the tribute, Kasadha’s body was taken to his  home in Ntinda, Iganga district.

The 50 -year-old agriculturalist joined Makerere University in 1995 to study Agriculture.

Kasadha served as NAADS coordinator for seven years and later appointed by the Mayuge district service commission as a senior agricultural officer.

In 2020, He was promoted to the position of principal agricultural officer because of his outstanding and exemplary performance particularly in the crop sector.

In December 2022, Kasadha was also appointed the focal person for the National Oil Palm project (NOPP) and Micro scale Irrigation project.

Hamis Magumba, the LC3 chairperson for Mpugwe Sub County in Mayuge district praised Kasadha for his dedicated service.

“He had served the district for 15 years and he worked tiresomely in improving crop production,” Magumba said.

He was a widower and survived with three children.

Kasadha’s death comes hardly a month after the passing on of the district communication officer, Fatina Namuwaya who succumbed to high blood pressure and Asthma and Peter Magumba, the Mayuge town council GISO

In 2021, the district lost Dr. Charles Nabangi, who was the district health officer Dr. Nabingi lost the battle to high blood pressure at Nile International hospital in Jinja district.

Nabangi died a few months after the passing on of the Internal Auditor Charles Kiige who perished in an accident in Namasoga village along Iganga- Jinja highway and Dr. Ibrahim Gwaluka who was the in charge of Kigandalo health centre IV, Mayuge who was gunned down by unknown assailants in December 2018 at his home in Bulubandi B village in Iganga district.
