The 2025 Best Farmers competition has been launched today (Wednesday, April 16) at Prime Agro Farms in Zirobwe, Luweero district.
The 11th edition was launched at a dairy farm owned by Rutah Ngabwa.
This year’s theme of the competition is ‘value addition’, with an emphasis on both large-scale farmers and cooperatives.
Gervase Ndyanabo, the Deputy Managing of Director Vision Group said previously that they have been awarding mainly small and medium-scale farmers because these are largely the majority of farmers in the country.
“This year again, we shall also profile cooperatives that are directly engaged in the agriculture value chain. In the Netherlands where we take these farmers, no farmer works individually. So, the purpose of profiling these cooperatives is to take them to the Netherlands so that they pick vital information for their members.”
He, therefore, called upon all large-scale farmers, small and medium-scale farmers, and cooperatives across the country to send their nominations so that they compete.
During the event, several speakers thanked farmers for the job they do to feed the country.
The competitions are organised by Vision Group and sponsored by The Embassy of the Netherlands, KLM Airlines, dfcu Bank and Koudjis.
